CALEXICO, Imperial County — October 23, 2026. Calexico residents voting in California’s November 3 general election have two separate pieces of local information worth checking: the city’s municipal contest and the county’s ballot-return locations. The City of Calexico’s official election notice says that two City Council seats, each carrying a full four-year term, are on the 2026 municipal election schedule.
Where can Calexico voters return a ballot?
Imperial County’s official voting-location guide lists a 24-hour ballot drop box at Calexico City Hall, 608 Heber Avenue. According to the county, ballot drop boxes opened October 5. Before going, confirm that the listing has not changed and use a designated, official drop box rather than leaving a ballot with an unverified person or business.
When do local vote centers open?
For in-person voting, the county lists two Calexico locations opening October 31: Camarena Memorial Library, 850 Encinas Avenue, and the Mario Esquer Building, 850 Eady Avenue. The county’s published hours for these centers are 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. October 31–November 2, and 7 a.m.–8 p.m. on Election Day, November 3. These are not among the county’s October 24 early-opening vote centers. Double-check the Registrar of Voters before traveling.
Missed the October 19 registration deadline?
The ordinary online voter-registration deadline passed October 19, but the California Secretary of State explains that eligible residents can use conditional, or Same Day, voter registration through November 3 at eligible in-person voting locations or county elections offices. A conditional ballot is processed after the registration is verified. Ask an election worker about the correct procedure before leaving.
Know which offices you are voting for
Calexico’s municipal notice identifies the two council terms, but it is not a substitute for your individualized ballot. Review the Imperial County official election materials for the finalized candidates, contests and measures applicable to your address. Read the state voter guide for statewide candidates and propositions. Do not assume that a state voter guide includes every city race.
Ballot-return checklist
If voting by mail, follow the official instructions, complete the ballot, seal it in its return envelope and sign the envelope. The Secretary of State recommends mailing at least seven days before Election Day to help ensure a timely postmark. Ballots dropped off in person must reach an authorized location by 8 p.m. on November 3. To track a ballot, use Where’s My Ballot?.
